Hi. My name is John Kelley and I will be playing Dr. McCoy in New Voyages. I saw that you had a fairly big article on our project and (as I only speak english) was wondering what you guys thought of the trailer.
I hope you all can check out the show when it comes out in December. We've had a great time making it.
Please feel free to post any questions and I'll do my best to answer.

| Kniga: I am not sure about pronounciation of "ř"... |
| But Karel (Karl) is germany name... What Přemysl :o) or Bořivoj :o))) |
| Yakuzza: Karel and Jan are both good.. |
| First name... Maybe Karel??? Or Jan? |
| Diegina: Ludvik really not :-))) Novak is too common... |

| If you really want to use some typical czech surname, I´d recommend you "Novák". Maybe Vaclav Novak? :)
But I agree with Karel Capek, too. |
| Svoboda´s first name? Ludvík? :-)))
Ludvik Svoboda was Czechoslovak president :-)
BTW my candidates on Zakladna Antares:-) |
| I think that it isn't good choice to choose some explicit name, IMHO it can look very stupid... Ensign Karel Capek... It can be good if it will be for example USS Karel Capek, because it's named after some famous person.
IMHO some name like SVOBODA can be good... Some undetermined... |
| John:
I´ll make an audio record of:
Karel Capek
.. and Svoboda too (but what about Svoboda´s first name?)
.. please candidates to Zakladna Antares club :-) |
| Yes, Capek is good choice... But today (or yesterday? :-)) I´ve made one other candidate:
It is SVOBODA, one of 10 most usefull czech surname.. It means in englisch FREEDOM.. No extraordinary person have had that surname, but it´s typically czech and also cointens a possitive sensation on future Trek World.. :-)
So John it is up to you :-) |
| I think it is a good choice after all. Name Čapek is authentic czech name, unlike many others ...
| Huraaa :o) Karel Čapek :o) SSE ky? ky? :o)
JOHN KELLEY Good, wery good :o)

| cpt. James Tiberius Kirk -
Jack Marshall emailed me about your website and the articles about New Voyages. I checked them out and was happy to see the level of interest in the project. I thought it would be kind of cool to post on your forum so I did!
As to proof of who I am, you'll just have to check out the second episode to see Ensign Capek - I just wrote him into the script and should be making an appearance on the bridge at the science (Spock's) station.
I'm off to Los Angeles tomorrow to meet James (Kirk), Jeff (Spock) and Jack (Scotty) to shoot some pickup scenes for the first episode and then start shooting on location for the second episode. Just hope we don't get fried sith all the fires going on there.
I'll talk to you guys when I get back in about ten days :)

| Karel Capek. One of our greatest humanists, and our perhaps most influtent writer of 20th century. He has an english homepage.
Pronunciantion is completely wrong :). Č should be spelled as "Ch" in "Chekov" (both names actually use the same letter), not as "K". |

It is new information for me... Capek has been my candidate :) |
| Well, in case nobody knows, there IS one czech name in the Star Trek already! - well, sort of ..
In episode "Requiem for metusaleah", there is android character Rayna Kapec - which is hommage to czech writer Karel Čapek or Capek, who made the term robot popular (supposedly Kapec and Capek have same pronounciation in english).

| Please excuse my disbelief, but can I ask u? How did you come to this czech forum?! |
| I think We have already one worthy candidate... But still continuing in other propositions. |

| S.S. Enterprise -
Your new czech crewmember needs a name. I just wrote him in for a scene on the bridge.
By the way I mentioned the idea to Jack Marshall (writer/director) and he thought it was really cool.
